The World Tourism Organization, as an agency affiliated to the United Nations, is responsible for the promotion of sustainable and responsible tourism throughout the world. According to Article 4 of the Constitution of the World Tourism Organization, membership in this organization is of three types:
Main or full membership, continuous membership and affiliate membership
Members of the World Tourism Organization include 156 states as the main members, 6 continuous members and about 500 affiliated members from private sectors, educational institutions, local authorities and tourism associations. From the Islamic Republic of Iran, 12 companies and institutions are affiliated members of the organization. Of the 12 Iranian affiliated members, two companies are from Hamadan province.
The proposal of Hamedan as the host of forthcoming meeting of the affiliated members of the World Tourism Organization by Alisadr Tourism Company is approved. Accordingly, Hamedan will host the 40th meeting of the affiliated members of the organization in November 2018. It should be noted that Alisadr Tourism Company has become an affiliated member of the World Tourism Organization since 2015 and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the affiliated members of the organization since 2017.
